Saint Vincent and the Grenadines: One Week Itinerary

Here is a one week itinerary for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, a beautiful country consisting chain of islands in the Lesser Antilles of the Caribbean.

One week itinerary for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

1-2 days: Saint Vincent

One day for hiking La Soufrière Volcano. Read my detailed post about this hike here, which offers great view of the island with a volcanic crater at the top.

Optional second day on Saint Vincent should include below. Some of these attractions can be visited on the first day if hiking La Soufrière did not take a full day.

  • Owia Salt Ponds at the north tip of the island
  • Leeward Highway Scenic drive, the west coast of the island
  • Kingstown, for a non touristy Caribbean town experience. Main attractions at Kingstown:
    • Kingstown Catholic Church, or Cathedral of the Assumption, I am not going to lie this place looks scary from outside and it has a contrasting architecture. If you have to see one thing in Kingstown, this is it. I loved it.
    • Kingstown Anglican Church
    • Botanical Gardens
    • Fort Charlotte
  • Vermont nature trail

4-5 days: The Grenadines

One day on Bequia. Bequia, pronounced beck-way, can be reach by ferry from Kingstown. In less than 2 hours you will arrive to this heaven island. Here are all the attractions we recommend:

  • Princess Margaret Beach
  • Belmont Board Walk
  • Homemade ice cream at Maranne's
  • Mt Peggy hike for the adventurous
  • Sailing to Tobago Cays, see below.

One day sailing to Tobago Cays Marine Park. There are tours from major islands. This is the best snorkeling in the country. Make sure to have your medicine if you easily get seasick.

Remaining days: Obviously if you are taking the ferry between the islands you will need more time due to infrequent ferry schedules. It might make sense pick two islands and spend more time on each. If you are sailing yourself, you can spend less time on each island. Here is a quick summary of the remaining islands so you can decide which ones you want to visit. Remember, there is no wrong decision.

  • Mustique: private island used among some celebrities as a secondary residence.
  • Canouan: known for its golf courses and white sand beaches.
  • Mayreau: smallest island listed here, closest to Tobago Cays
  • Union: known for its beaches and green hills and local presence.

Alternative itineraries if you have limited time

If you have only one day
  • If you are sailing from other Caribbean islands, then visit Tobago Cays Marine Park.
  • If you are flying in, then visit Bequia, or the La Soufrière hike.
If you have only two days
  • Then, pick two out of these three: Tobago Cays Marine Park, Bequia, the volcano hike.
If you have only three days
  • Then go to Tobago Cays Marine Park, Bequia, the volcano hike.
  • If you don't like hiking, replace it with Union island or spend more time on Bequia.
I hope this post is helpful to plan your next vacation. Feel free to share your favorites of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines: Hiking La Soufriere Volcano

Hiking La Soufrière Volcano in Saint Vincent This is THE hike of Saint Vincent. If you are an active person spending some time in SVG (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines), this will be the highlight of your trip. If you are at one of the neighboring islands like Barbados, or Grenada, the volcano can be a good excuse to visit SVG. I did not mention St Lucia because there are the Pitons there, but feel free to visit from there as well. Lastly, if you are one of those cool people who sail in between Caribbean islands, La Soufrière volcano hike would be a great opportunity to spend a day on land. The view from the top: La Soufrière volcano crater First let me clarify some naming conventions, before I confuse you more. SVG : Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, a country of several island in the Lesser Antilles of Caribbean, this is the name of the country. SV : Saint Vincent, this is the name of the largest island in SVG, some people use this to refer to whole country as well. I...

Bad Travel Experience in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

This post is about my travel to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, a beautiful, mostly non-touristy island(s) country in the Lesser Antilles of the Caribbean. I took a different perspective on this post, seemingly negative, a more positive one will come shortly. In this post, I talk about my worst travel experiences from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. In other words, these are the worst things that can happen if you go to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Read and decide yourself if you still want to go, I bet you will find my experience rather humorous than scary. We all talk about the good and the glamorous. Hardly ever I see a blog post about negative travel experience. I believe it happens, but we are usually ashamed to shared that or we think it is going to overshadow the good experience. I, on the other hand, find it useful to read or hear about travel experiences where things were not ideal. I believe it gives us opportunity to learn and be prepared for it. If the negative...
